good testing...

If you're just testing for look, feel, or a general idea of somethign working, this might work.

But if you're testing to see how an application will perform in your employer/customer's environment then you'd be well advised to set up a server and client that are exactly what they have in their environment. And similar bandwidth. You'd be surprised at the usability differences these kinds of things can make.
